超磁歪材料の圧縮強さ

REMA-CNは超磁歪材料の専門メーカー

TbDyFe合金(あるいはTerfenol-Dと称するか)の圧縮強さとは、サイズを縮めるよう圧力をかけられた時、どれほど抵抗できるかということ。

以前REMAーCNのプロダクトの圧縮強さの測定値は ≥ 400MPaである。それ以降何年も測定していませんでした。

今年ある客様がTerfenol-Dと比べると、我々が提出した製品圧縮強さ数値は小さいということもあって、いまの材料はどれほど改善されたかということも念頭に、新たに測定を試みたわけです。

今度、西安理工大学に委託して得た測定値は774.09MPaであった

Compressive Strength

REMA-CN manufactures the alloy of TbDyFe which is well known by the brand name of Terfenol-D.

Compressive strength or compression strength is the capacity of TbDyFe alloy or Terfenol-D to withstand loads tending to reduce the size, as opposed to tensile strength, which withstands loads tending to elongate.

A few years ago, we test the compressive strength when a lot was manufactured. At that time, we had it ≥ 400MPa. Since then, we had not tested compressive strength for a long time.

This year, one of our customers that there was quite a difference between Terfenol-D and our product, in the term of compressive strength. We are certain our product improved since the last test and asked Xi'an University of Technology to do it again. This time we had 774.09MPa.

Terfenol-D: a linguistic anylisis


ETREMA Terfenol-D was developed by Naval Ordnance Laboratory. Until the 1980s, it was well developed.

The name follows as such:
  • ETREMA:the maker's initial ( ETREMA Products, Inc. ) Edge Technologies' Rare Earth Magnetostrictive Alloys.
  • Ter:Terbium (Tb)
  • fe: Ferrum (Fe)
  • nol: Naval Ordnance Laboratory
  • D: Dysprosium
From its name, we can see that Terfenol-D is a Tb-Dy-Fe alloy, which consisted of "Tb0.27Dy0.73Fe1.9".

ETREMA Terfenol-Dは米国海軍兵器研究所による開発されたもの。1970年代から着手し、1980年代すでに完成したものといえよう。

その名称は分析してこうなる:
  • ETREMA:製造者 ( ETREMA Products, Inc. ) Edge Technologies' Rare Earth Magnetostrictive Alloysの頭文字。
  • Ter:Terbium (Tb)
  • fe: Ferrum (Fe)
  • nol: Naval Ordnance Laboratory (海軍兵器研究所)
  • D: Dysprosium
なので所謂Terfenol-DとはTb-Dy-Fe系合金。その中身:【Tb0.27Dy0.73Fe1.9】。

What is rare earth magnetostrictive alloy?

The manufacturer I want to recommand is  REMA-CN, which supplies so-called Terfenol-D, aka rare earth magnetostrictive alloy.

Well, it seems odd that there is no such an entry in Wikipedia. But it does exist. We can say it is one type of rare earth magnet or one type of rare earth alloys. Among them, I want to mention here is a special one: Terfenol-D. It is categorized into rear earth alloys in Wikipedia, according to which, 'Terfenol-D, an alloy of the formula TbxDy1-xFe2 (x ~ 0.3), is a magnetostrictive material.'
